St. Mark's Basilica architecture

St. Mark's basilica known as San Marco in Venice, Italy was built in a byzantine style on masonry and timber frame domes. There are five domes covering the crossing and each of the arms were supported by large piers linked by archers. Inside are gilded mosaics that cover the walls and the ceilings. This 12th century interior mosaic recount events of the New Testament. St. Mark was made unique by its wealth of history and the magnificent architecture of its facade and interior. You would want to bring something to soothe stiff necks when you go there. For sure you will over strain your neck looking at the ceilings.
